I am an Acrylic Mixed Media Artist inspired mostly by the beautiful treasures Mother Nature creates and the simple beauty of the world around us. With my passion for color and texture, I create a visual depth inviting you into my work as a participant. Not only is art a huge part of my life but so is meditation, mindfulness, and yoga. Combining these practices with my art creates a balance that can be felt in my finished work. Each of my pieces comes from a place of peace, growth, and exploration. Most of my professional work is mixed media on canvas but I do like to experiment with all art forms.
My work has been displayed in a variety of art shows, galleries, boutique shops, and private collections since 2001. You can visit my work at Santini Gallery in Ottawa, Ontario.
I was raised in a creative home where we were taught to explore the world around us. We were surrounded by art, music, and nature at our fingertips. Before her passing, my mother was an accomplished oil painter and mentored my early interest in painting. I went on and studied both art and photography at Sheridan College, Humber College, and the Ottawa School of Art.
My art studio is located within our home in Stittsville, Ontario. We wanted the space to be in the heart of our world - a place my husband and children could see creativity and passion in action every day. A place my four young children could come and be creative whenever inspiration hit.
Without question, my unwavering goal is to inspire others to unleash their inner artist. My unique approach to creativity helps encourage people of all ages and skill levels to stretch their creative limits and realize the beauty that can be found in imperfections. I believe with all my heart that the process of creating is just as important as the final piece and I love sharing all the steps along the way.
In 2010, I founded an art program known as “Artist Kate”. I teach children and adult mixed media classes from my home artist studio, host art pARTies for all ages, and teach creative arts programs in our local schools and community groups. I love to give back and believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore their creative self. I volunteer my time as “Artist Kate” with local non-for-profit groups that empower local youth, and with The Girl Guide of Canada.
